Depression and/or Anxiety

Depression and/or Anxiety can look different for everyone and can vary based on factors including but not limited to life events, biological sex as well as age. Sometimes people can present as if everything is okay on the outside but are struggling to engage in activities of daily living on the inside/within the privacy of their own homes. Some people have a hard time holding down a job and sometimes cannot get out of bed.

Depression and Anxiety can be triggered by a stressor in your environment and can feel like it has lasted a lifetime. You might be constantly overthinking, having a hard time with falling and staying asleep, feeling on edge, experiencing irritability, experiencing a hard time focusing, crying more than usual, or may be experiencing suicidal thoughts. We often observe people feeling shame and depression about something in the past and people experiencing anxiety about something that has not happened yet.

Here at Living Within Therapy, we all specialize in treating clients across the lifespan with depression and anxiety and have different ways in doing so. We have been trained in a variety of different theories, including but not limited to: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT),  Rogerian, and Solution Focused Therapy. We can help you look at how you’re not living in alignment with your values, identify thoughts that are not helpful to you and learn that it is indeed a thought, as well as identify concrete steps you can engage in to feel more connected to your highest self.
